For archival rips of a CD you may re-encode later, choose 320 kbps CBR — bit-perfect by default, no psychoacoustic guessing. For portable playback on phones with limited storage, 256 kbps VBR is audibly transparent on 99% of headphones and saves 22% disk space. How do I get album art and ID3 tags to show up in my car stereo?
Car head units are picky about tag order and character encoding. CDWAVMP3 writes ID3v2.4 first, ID3v1 as a fallback, using UTF-8 without BOM. If art still doesn't appear, your stereo probably wants the album-art frame at the start of the tag, not the end — toggle Compatibility → Reorder frames for legacy head units in Preferences.
